Erin Hockman, CEO of the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART), today announced an expanded leadership role for Luis Montoya, who will serve as Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer. Montoya, who previously served as Chief Operating and Planning Officer, joined DART in 2018 from the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency and brings nearly two decades of community transit experience.

DART riders are encouraged to begin planning how they will travel in the new bus network that will launch on June 14, 2026. Route schedules and an interactive map of bus stop locations are now available here.
Our team is ready to help riders learn the new routes and plan their trips through one-on-one trip planning support at 12 open houses in May and June.
The countdown is on – DART will begin running all new bus routes on June 14, 2026. We’re replacing our current routes with ten main bus routes that run more often, 7 days a week, on the busiest streets of the Des Moines metro.

Amanda Wanke will return to her home state of Minnesota to be closer to family after helping guide DART through a pivotal time for transit in Greater Des Moines.
The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) today announced that Chief Executive Officer Amanda Wanke has accepted a leadership position with Metro Transit in the Twin Cities. Her final day with DART will be May 9, 2026.
DART will end all services in the City of Bondurant and City of Pleasant Hill beginning June 14, 2026, aligning with the start of our new bus network. We are making this change because both cities voted to withdraw from DART.

The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) has received a $20 million federal grant for constructing a new Operations & Maintenance Facility. With a 2019 grant and local match funding, this new grant will allow DART to make significant progress on the goal of getting out of 1100 DART Way.

Beginning this summer, the new network will improve travel times and access to transit
Today, the DART Commission approved the first major redesign of bus routes and services in more than a decade. DART’s new network will increase transit access and speed up travel times for most transit trips while reducing service by 10% to limit property tax growth.
