FY2024 Section 5310 Funds Call For Projects

DART is a designated recipient of Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funding in the Des Moines/Central Iowa Urbanized Area and is responsible for administering grants and distributing funds.

Below is the 2024 Call for Projects for Sections 5310 funds. It will run from January 23, 2024 to February 20, 2024.

Section 5310 – Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Grant Program

The Section 5310 grant program offers federal funding to support projects that provide transportation to older individuals and those with disabilities. As the designated recipient, DART is hosting a Call for Projects.

Eligible recipients of Section 5310 funding include private, not-for-profit organizations and authorized units of local government within Iowa. To be considered, projects must be derived from the Greater Des Moines Long Range Transportation Plan (Mobilizing Tomorrow 2020 – 2050), which can be viewed here.

Eligible projects are for new, traditional services, mobility management, vehicles, and equipment. New, traditional services receiving funding will require a 50% local match. The estimated amount available for this Call for Projects is $600,000.

Any applicants wishing to apply for the 5310 grant program must submit a formal request to DART’s Grants Program Administrator via email or deliver the formal request at DART Central Station, 620 Cherry St., Des Moines, Iowa 50309 by February 20, 2024.
