Beginning Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, the following changes will be implemented to better serve DART customers.
Weekday night service will be increased on:
- Local Route 6 – Indianola Ave: Frequency will be increased to every 30 minutes beginning at 6:45 p.m. through the end of the service day from DART Central Station to/from Indianola & Park Ave. Frequency will increase to every hour on trips traveling along the SE 5th and the SE 14th legs.
- Local Route 16 – Douglas Ave: Frequency will be increased to every 30 minutes beginning at 6:45 p.m. through the end of the service day.
Local Route 8 – Fleur Dr: One morning trip will be added to each direction with the first trip arriving at DART Central Station at 6:45 a.m. The trip to the Airport South Park & Ride will start at Fleur & Bell around 6 a.m.
Local Route 17 – Hubbell Ave/Altoona: Morning and afternoon weekday peak trips will be extended to travel to/from the Altoona Walmart, increasing service to Altoona to every 30 minutes during the peak travel times.
Weekday peak trips frequency increased on three Express Routes:
- Route 92 – Hickman: Weekday morning and afternoon service will be increased to about every 25 minutes. Two morning and two evening trips will be added to the peak weekday commutes.
- Route 93 – NW 86th: Weekday morning and afternoon frequency will be increased to about 25 minutes with the addition of two morning and two evening trips. The Grimes/NW Johnston On-Call will be adjusted to connect with the Route #93 trips at Crescent Chase & NW 86th St.
- Route 98 – Ankeny: Weekday peak service will be increased to about every 25 minutes with the addition of three morning and three evening trips to the weekday commutes.
Route 73 – Urbandale/Windsor Heights Flex: The route will be split into two separate regions to better serve Urbandale and Windsor Heights with new routing on the west side of the current route.
- Route 73 – Urbandale/Windsor Heights Flex: Route will serve the Gloria Dei Park & Ride and the Ice Arena traveling via Parkview Dr., NW 86th, Meredith, 70th, Douglas and 72nd. The route will flex in select areas. Service on Meredith between NW 86th and NW 100th will be discontinued.
- NEW Route 74 – NW Urbandale Flex: Weekday morning and afternoon service added to travel between Valley West Mall and the Marsh/NW Urbandale Business Park area via 31st St., University, Valley West Dr./NW 100th St., NW Urbandale Dr., Aurora Ave., 114th St., Meredith Dr., Marsh, 121st St. and Douglas. The route will flex off of Douglas east of I-35/80 and west of 104th St. Service west of 121st St. between Meredith Dr. and Douglas Ave. will be discontinued.
Time adjustments will be made on Local Routes 3, 4, 6, 7, 15, 16, 17 and 52, and on the Grimes/NW Johnston On Call.
New schedules are available below, and will be on the buses beginning Wednesday, Aug. 13:

- Local Route 52 -- Valley West/Jordan Creek Crosstown
- Flex Route 73 -- Urbandale/Windsor Heights
- Flex Route 74 -- NW Urbandale
- Express Route 92 -- Hickman
- Express Route 93 -- NW 86th
- Express Route 98 -- Ankeny
- Grimes/NW Johnston On Call
The next scheduled service change is February 2015.
