DART is in the early stages of updating its fare system – the ways people pay to ride DART – and is seeking rider input on its fare policy. (IMPORTANT NOTE: DART is NOT proposing to increase fare prices.)
New bus fare boxes are targeted for rollout in early 2015 and will offer new ways for riders to pay for rides on DART, such as the addition of “smart cards.” As a result of new fare payment options, DART will revisit its fare policy. Changes could affect options available, transfers, et cetera.
To gain rider feedback, DART is organizing a focus group of riders who represent different kinds of users: commuters, Unlimited Access users, university students, youth, disabled, seniors, cash-paying rider and cash-paying rider who transfer. The focus group will meet two or three times this fall/winter, with the first meeting in early September.
