Fares for Food
DART invites residents to ride for a reason Thursday, December 12th and share in the spirit of the holiday season. DART will donate all cash fares, and any cash donations collected through the fare box, to the Food Bank of Iowa. (*Local, Express, Flex and On Call fares included).
Ride for a reason
Many Iowans— family, friends, neighbors and co-workers—are struggling to put food on their tables. According to the Food Bank of Iowa:
- One in eight Iowans are food insecure,
- One in five Iowa children does not have enough to eat and
- 395,620 Iowans live at or below the poverty line.
The Food Bank of Iowa is a charitable, not-for-profit organization committed to alleviating hunger through food distribution, partnership and education. Its primary role is to provide food to the charitable agencies offering direct service to hungry Iowans.
