Public Notice: DART FY2026 Program of Projects

Posted on December, 22 2025

The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) has released its draft Fiscal Year 2026 Program of Projects (POP), outlining how federal transit funding may be used to support public transportation in the Greater Des Moines area.

The Program of Projects is a federally required planning document that identifies proposed investments in areas such as bus replacements, vehicle maintenance, operating support, paratransit services, and transportation services for seniors and people with disabilities. These funds come from several Federal Transit Administration programs, including Sections 5307/5340, 5310, and 5339.

The draft POP was developed in coordination with community partners, including private transportation providers and human service agencies. Some funding amounts are identified now, while other funds will be programmed later in the fiscal year.

DART is inviting the public to review the proposed Program of Projects and provide feedback. The document is available for public inspection, and comments or requests for a public hearing must be submitted by 9 a.m. on January 23, 2026. If a public hearing is requested, DART will schedule one and notify the public. If no comments or hearing requests are received, the Program of Projects will be considered final.

Community members are encouraged to review the document and share their comments to help guide how federal transit funds are invested in the region.

Public input helps ensure federal transit funds are used in ways that best serve the community. Details on how to review the document and submit comments are included in the full public notice.
