As DART and central Iowa continue to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, riders will notice some further restrictions to how they use the public areas of DART Central Station. DART is putting these restrictions into place for the safety of our riders. It has become increasingly difficult to ensure social distancing guidelines are followed with the lobby open. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.
DART Central Station Lobby use restricted
Riders will now only be allowed into DART Central Station to either use the restroom or speak to a representative at the Customer Service window. DART Security will allow one rider at a time into the lobby through the southwest door that faces the bus platforms.
Riders will not be allowed to wait for their bus inside the lobby and are instead asked to wait for buses on the outdoor platforms. Please remember to practice safe social distancing and remain at least 6 feet from other riders while you wait for your bus to arrive.
Please wear a mask
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that everyone wear some sort of mask or face covering when they must be in public. DART employees have received a cloth mask to wear for their own safety and for the safety of our riders.
We strongly encourage our riders to wear a mask or some other face covering while riding DART. Wearing a mask helps to prevent or slow the spread of COVID-19. Patterns and examples of masks and other face coverings are available on the CDC’s website.
Commitment to service and safety
These additional temporary restrictions and recommendations will help DART and its riders travel in the safest manner possible. At this time, we are not making any further reductions to DART’s service network.
Please continue to only ride DART buses for necessary trips, such as traveling to work, the grocery store or the pharmacy. Whenever possible, keep at least 6 feet away from others, wash your hands frequently and avoid touching your face to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19.
