DART is your ride to all kinds of summer fun in 2012.
DART will be hosting a "Kiss the Bus" event, collecting donations for a food drive, and expanding its hours of service for some of the summer's best events.
June 21 -- "Kiss the Bus" is a first-time event being hosted by DART in which transit lovers can make a public display of affection for their beloved bus. The kissing starts at 11 a.m. and continues to 1 p.m. at 10th and Locust. DART is giving away VIP tickets to the 80/35 Music Festival, VIP tickets to Yankee Doodle Pops, and a year's worth of bus passes (a $696 value!).
June 22 -- Ride DART FREE with a donation of non-perishable food item. Valid on Local, Express, Flex/On Call and Paratransit services
July 3 -- The D-Line Downtown Shuttle will operate until midnight to take concert-goers to and from Yankee Doodle Pops. The buses will line up on East 6th Street between Grand Avenue and Locust Street after the concert to pick up attendees.
July 4 -- DART will be participating in the Urbandale Parade at 10 a.m. and Jazz in July at Lyons Park (4103 72nd St, Urbandale) starting at 5 p.m. Come see the bus and grab new DART schedules.
July 6-7 -- The D-Line Downtown Shuttle will operate until midnight on both the Friday and Saturday of the 80/35 Music Festival. The D-Line route will be modified slightly on the west end to pick up and drop off riders at 10th Street, near the entrance to the concert.
August 9-19 -- DART's service to the Iowa State Fair is back by popular demand, with service from three convenient Park and Ride locations. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to midnight each day of the State Fair.
