DART offering free rides on Election Day

DART will offer free rides on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018. Polls in Polk County will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., but DART will offer free rides all day long.

“We want to help ensure central Iowa residents who want to vote have a way to get there,” shares DART Chief External Affairs Officer, Amanda Wanke. “Thousands of people in central Iowa will be traveling to polling locations on Election Day. By offering free rides, we hope to make it easier for people to participate in our democracy.”

Riders can turn to their county auditor office to identify where their polling location is. Polk County information is available online here.

Once you know where to vote, use the MyDART Trip Planner available here and through the MyDART app to learn which routes you should take to vote. This information is also available online using Google Maps.

DART to the Polls

Free rides will be offered throughout our service day, which is from roughly 5 a.m. through approximately 11 p.m. Polls in Polk County are open between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Rides will be available on all Local, Express, Flex and On Call routes. DART will also offer free rides to polling locations for Paratransit riders who call and schedule their ride in advance.
