Ride D-Line to Yankee Doodle Pops

Posted on June, 20 2014

The D-Line Downtown Shuttle is your free ride to Yankee Doodle Pops.

The hours of the free-to-ride D-Line Downtown Shuttle will be extended to 11 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014, to provide celebrators with an easier means of traveling to the Des Moines Symphony’s Yankee Doodle Pops concert.

The D-Line typically circulates east and west between downtown, the East Village and the Capitol Complex. The route will be detoured all day Wednesday due to multiple road closures.

  • 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. – Throughout the business day, the shuttle will operate on Grand Avenue and Locust Street through most of downtown, then detour on Walnut Street over the Walnut Street Bridge to the East Village and around the Capitol Complex.
  • 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.* – During the evening, the shuttle will operate on the same detoured route throughout downtown and across the Des Moines River. However, beginning at 6 p.m. the shuttle will travel only as far as East 6th Street, which will be the main pick-up and drop-off point for concert-goers.
  • *After 10 p.m. – After the fireworks, the shuttle will carry passengers westbound only, delivery them to their vehicles throughout downtown.

The service allows people to avoid the hassles of road closures and trying to find parking near the event. Attendees can instead park anywhere near the D-Line route and ride the shuttle the rest of the way. The D-Line is free to ride and arrives at stops approximately every 10 minutes.
