Fares for Food Day raises more than $3,000
On Thursday, Dec. 8, DART held its annual Fares for Food event, during which cash fares on its buses are donated to a local organization fighting hunger. DART is happy to share that $3,250 was raised, going to the Hunger Free Polk County Initiative.
In the past, DART has participated in a variety of charitable events from handing out tokens at the Feed the Need Event to Food Drives, where non-perishable food items were collected on the buses. These last few years, DART hosted Fares for Food Day, during which all cash into fareboxes is donated. This cash donation makes an especially big impact because the organization can plan how to best use those cash resources.
