Riders, DART needs your feedback as we finalize changes we plan to make to our service in January 2019.
DART made major changes to its service in August 2019, which improved frequency on certain local routes, provided earlier service on Local Routes, and introduced Local Route 50 in north Des Moines. In January, DART will make schedule adjustments on several of its routes to improve the reliability of buses arriving when they are scheduled to.
Impacted routes:
Local Route 5 – Franklin Ave/Johnston
DART is proposing slight adjustments to the schedule for Route 5, which will change the times buses leave the Johnston Public Library. This route will still run at the same frequency.
Local Route 6
To improve on-time performance, DART is planning to adjust the frequency of this route from 20 minutes to 30 minutes for all or part of the day.
Local Route 15
DART is planning to remove the double loop around Park Fair Mall to improve on-time performance. This would eliminate Route 15 service from the following bus stops:
- 3843 – Douglas Ave/Oxford St.
- 3844 – Douglas Ave/Cornell St.
- 2972 – E Euclid Ave/Cornell St.
- 1426 – E Euclid Ave/Oxford St.
- 2115 – Park Fair Mall

Express Route 92
DART is proposing to eliminate select trips on this route during times of day with very low ridership and possibly realign the schedule to better meet the needs of customers. Give your input on these changes by completing a survey administered by DART staff on the bus or by completing the survey online here.
Link Shuttle
DART is working with community partners, including the City of Des Moines and Polk County, to decide if there would be a more effective and efficient route for the free Link Shuttle downtown to travel.
