Des Moines On Call

Des Moines On Call is a neighborhood shuttle service that provides curb-to-curb transportation within the Des Moines On Call service areas. The shuttle can take you from the curb outside your home or workplace to the nearest regular-route bus stop or to other destinations within the On Call service areas.

Service Areas

Des Moines On Call service is provided on Des Moines' east and south sides. Please refer to the maps on the back panel of this brochure for the zone boundaries. On Call service is available if you are traveling within one of these zones and are more than 4 blocks from a regular fixed-route. If you need to travel outside of these zones, we will take you to the closest regular fixed-route stop.

Des Moines On Call service is available Monday though Friday evenings from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm. There is no weekend or holiday service.

A Ride for Everyone

All DART On Call vehicles accommodate service animals and are wheelchair accessible. Adults must accompany children under 6.

DART requires exact fares and all special ID's upon boarding.

Reservations

You can schedule a ride by calling 283-8100 after 1:00 pm the same day you need service. Please be prepared to provide your name, phone number, date of travel, departure time, destination and desired arrival time. Service is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Trip reservations may be schedule up to 7 days in advance. Repeat trips may also be reserved in advance.

Pick-Up Times

A DART representative will schedule a pick-up time for your trip, although vehicle arrival time may vary by up to 10 minutes. Upon arrival, the driver will only wait 2 minutes for you to board.

Flexibility

On Call representatives will make every effort to accommodate your trip needs. During periods of high demand, your trip request may be more easily accommodated if you are willing to travel at a slightly different time or by a less-direct route to your destination.

Cancellations

To cancel or change your trip reservation, you must call 283-8100 at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up, or a "no-show" will be recorded. More than 4 no-shows in a calendar month may result in a suspension of your On Call service.
